A photographic and storytelling journey into one of Canada’s most remarkable coastlines. Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound: From Sea To Sky blends vivid imagery, personal adventure, and well-researched context to reveal the fjord’s diverse landscapes, rich cultural history, and fragile ecosystems.

Structured around three themes—Discover, Experience, Protect—the book introduces readers to the Sound’s geography, Indigenous presence, and industrial past, before guiding them along its trails, peaks, and waterways. It concludes with a thoughtful exploration of the region’s recovery and the importance of safeguarding its future.

Every copy directly funds the local organizations safeguarding this UNESCO Biosphere, so readers don’t just admire the coast, they help protect it.

Whether you’re a hiker, paddler, or simply curious about this iconic corner of British Columbia, this book offers both inspiration and insight into why Howe Sound matters and my experiences exploring it.

15% of revenue from every copy sold goes to the Support Howe Sound Fund. This directly funds the local organizations safeguarding this UNESCO Biosphere, so readers don’t just admire the coast, they help protect it.

Photographed, designed, and printed in Canada.

Beyond the photography and stories, this book is anchored by original maps created just for these pages. To bring them to life, I undertook the challenge of learning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and professional mapmaking from scratch. Each map blends expedition notes with data layers from trails, marine routes, and protected areas. The result: one-of-a-kind cartography that reveals Howe Sound in ways no guidebook or atlas has before.
